Reminder – This Coming Tuesday:
Betty Staley: What Is The Other America?
Tuesday, May 25, 2021 7:00 PM A Zoom Branch Meeting
10/24/2021
Dear ,
How do Rudolf Steiner’s comments about America help us understand the unique tasks of this country?
Betty Staley will speak about light and shadow during key nodal periods in American history: the impulses at the founding, the spiritual events of the 19th century, and the possibilities in the 20th and 21st centuries. Over the course of his lectures, Rudolf Steiner made significant comments about the West, particularly America. He drew attention to the powerful Ahrimanic forces and the battle against these forces, the events that Michael carried out in the spiritual world in the nineteenth century, and the unique task that America could contribute to the world. At this time when we are surrounded by chaos and confusion, it helps to gain clarity and understanding of the great figures who are leading the way and what we can do “in our earnest heartfelt striving.” Betty Staley, MS.
Betty has been active in anthroposophy and Waldorf education since the 1960s. She was a class teacher and founded the Sacramento Waldorf High School, co-founded Rudolf Steiner College, and directed the High School Teacher Education Program and taught foundations courses in Anthroposophy. She helped to found a number of Waldorf high schools in the U.S. Betty was instrumental in introducing Waldorf education into public education and is currently a Board member of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Schools. She is a long-time member of the Pedagogical Section Council of North America. An international lecturer on Waldorf education, adolescence and parenting, she is the author of eight books including two on adolescence, on curriculum areas such as teaching Russian literature to high school students, and Africa, a teacher’s guide, as well as on adult psychology and biography.
