Walter Alexander (who you may recall spoke with us last Spring) from the New York branch has asked us to relay their invitation to celebrate Michaelmas with them at a hybrid Zoom event.

For this Michaelmas season, we are offering a special open-to-all celebration in place of our usual first Friday of the month Members Evening—October 1. It will be a hybrid event, at the branch and on Zoom.
“One of the greatest mysteries of the passage of the seasons in the course of the year lies in its character as a living organism,” wrote Sergeii Prokofieff in The Cycle of the Seasons and the Seven Liberal Arts. Prokoffief also noted Rudolf Steiner’s characterization of Michael as the guiding spirit of humanity whose “principal function from the earliest beginnings has been to govern the cosmic intelligence.” In The Calendar of the Soul, Steiner’s unique guide to the interplay between the soul life of human beings and the life of nature and the cosmos, the verse for the Michaelmas Mood is this:
O Nature, your maternal being
I bear within the essence of my will,
And the fiery power of my will,
Steels my spiritual strivings,
So they give birth to sense of self,
To bear myself in me.
Mary Stewart Adams, Fred Dennehy, Herbert Hagens and Eugene Schwartz will share their ponderings and insights on this verse—and then have a conversation with each other before guiding a further discussion with the gathered live and Zoom audiences.
