Branch News

We had a wonderful, well attended weekend with “Now West Kaspar Hauser”.  Those present enjoyed a riveting performance of Glen Williamson’s one person play “The Open Secret of the Foundling Prince” – in Glen’s words “created as an epic fairytale with historical interludes, this story includes inspiring spiritual pictures as well as the latest scientific research about one of 19th Century Europe’s most compelling figures”.

On Saturday, we had a dramatic reading of “…. and from the night, Kaspar”. A play written by Carlo Pietzner, one of the founders of the Camphill Movement.  It was a very moving experience for all, both the readers and the audience.

Over the weekend we had three deeply fascinating lectures by Eckart Böhmer who is the the Director of the Kaspar Hauser Festival in Ansbach, the German town where Kaspar Hauser died.  These lectures were beautifully translated by Richard Steel, the Director of the Karl König Archives.

It was an incredibly moving and deeply inspiring weekend.

We are grateful to Camphill Communities California who co – sponsored this weekend with us.

On October 25, at 7.30 pm in the Paloma Hall at Camphill, 4096 Fairway Drive, Soquel, Penelope Baring will give a lecture titled “the Signs of the Times”.

This lecture will address the idea that there are high beings whose task is to accompany the earth and the human being in the course of evolution and what we call history.  Our present historical situation, both national and international, can seem very dire.  What beings are at work and how can we as human beings make a difference?

Penelope Baring has lived and worked in Camphill since 1970.  She has served the Anthroposophical Society on the Eastern Regional Council as well as the National Council and is currently a member of the Collegium of the School for Spiritual Science in North America.  She has been a Class holder since 1988.

In service,

John Baring, Daniel Bittleston, Susan Williams Cook, David Eyes, Jeanne Feeney, Susan Goldstein
